Top Things You Can Do At Night To Improve Your Skin While you Sleep
April 28, 2023Why Coconut Oil Should Be Used On Your Skin
June 28, 2023Improving your skin's health and appearance does not have to be limited to daytime. We will give you a bunch of tips that only take a little bit of time and commitment right before you hit the sack.
Get Enough Sleep
One of the most important things you can do is ensure you get enough quality sleep every night. If you get a few hours or poor-quality rest at night, your skin will reflect it in the morning, aside from not feeling your best physically. At night your body has a specific job: to restore itself from everything it went through during the day (what is called a renewal cycle).
You can start by creating a wind-down routine before bed. Make sure your room is dark, have comfortable sheets and silk pillowcases, and enjoy a hot cup of calming tea to set the mood.
We also recommend sleeping on your back. Studies have shown that if you sleep on your side, the sheets can leave indentations, that over time the pressure on your face can lead to wrinkles.
Remember to change your pillowcases regularly, especially if you are prone to breakouts. Sleeping on the same pillowcase every night can allow bacteria to grow and build up on your pillow.
Wash Your Face
You have probably heard that sleeping with your makeup on is a no-no. It is crucial to wash your face to wipe off all makeup and any grime collected throughout the day to restore your skin overnight. If you use heavy makeup or waterproof makeup, consider double cleansing to ensure its removal. Consider using a gentle, nourishing face cleanser that won't dry your skin while cleansing it.
Serums and Rollers
We are huge fans of serums at night. Try a naturally made serum with the perfect blend of oils your skin can benefit from. Enjoy applying them to your face by gently massaging your face upwards.
Jade rollers are also an excellent tool; they feel great and can help the lymphatic system. Using a roller, you move the blood vessels underneath your skin and kick-start the nighttime renewal cycle. It also helps with skin irritations or inflammation.
Moisturize
Hydrators plump up your skin, smoothing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Opt for a lightweight moisturizer at night to avoid the heavy feel of applying moisturizer after serums.
Don't neglect the sensitive skin around your eyes or your lips. Putting a thicker moisturizer on your lips at night and hydrating the sensitive skin around your eyes will make you feel healthier and rejuvenated.
Get Steamy
You can de-gunk your pores from the comfort of your own home. Run a hot shower and step inside for one to two minutes before your wash your face. Do not put your face in direct contact with the hot water, as you can scald your skin. All you have to do is expose your skin to the vapor long enough to allow your pores to open.
You can also give yourself a mini facial by soaking a towel in water and putting it in the microwave for 20 seconds. Gently pat the towel against your face to open your pores and loosen oils, dirt, bacteria, and sweat. Now your face is ready to be cleansed.
Try these pre-bedtime tips and see how your skin will be smoother and more radiant by the time your alarm clock goes off!
