Why Skincare is Important For Your Wellness
August 31, 2022
So let's face it, we are imperfect creatures. We are constantly looking to better our lifestyle but not always able to as we would like. We may forget to apply sunscreen every morning or reach for that cookie that keeps staring at us in the pantry. That doesn't mean we can not form some healthy habits that can aid with the signs of a life well lived.

Why do we get Dark Circles?
Over time our skin grows thinner because of the natural loss of collagen. When our skin becomes thinner, the veins underneath inevitably start showing.
Some factors that may cause dark circles are the following:
- Fatigue
- Allergies
- Eczema
- Genetics
- Sun Exposure
- Dehydration
Regardless of how we got them, we want them gone! so we’ve compiled a list of how to get rid of dark circles safely and naturally.
- Sleep- A good night's rest is essential for our bodies and mind. Some of us may lead hectic lives with work or children but trying to get eight hours a night is crucial. Some studies have shown that being sleep-deprived makes our faces paler, making those dark circles seem even darker. Meditation, a good exercise routine, and warm chamomile tea help me when life gets in the way.
Â
- Cold Compresses- If you have a cooling eye mask, keep it in the fridge. Apply it to your eyes for ten minutes twice daily (ideally). Another exceptional cold compress is cucumbers, and they are as relaxing as seen in the movies! Cucumbers are a natural astringent and skin lightener. Cut them into thick slices, refrigerate for 30 minutes, leave them on your eyes for ten minutes and rinse with warm water. Cold compresses can tighten the blood vessels around the eye, which reduces the appearance of the veins on the skin's surface, which is also great for puffiness.
Â
- Tea Bags- No cold compress? No problem! You can substitute with green tea bags. Green tea is known to have antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties, which are soothing to the eyes. Soak the tea bags in water, then let them cool in the fridge for 30 minutes. Place the tea bags on your eyes for ten minutes and rinse with warm water. Repeat twice a day.
Â
- Rose Water- This is a natural astringent with a great smell. It is soothing and rejuvenating to the skin. Soak cotton pads for a few minutes and apply them onto eyelids (while eyes are closed) for 15 minutes twice daily. Using Almara Beauty’s Facial Toner daily is a great alternative. Just spritz the toner on a cotton ball, apply to the under-eye area and you will start to see the difference within a couple of days.
Â
- Reduce Sun Exposure- Avoid leaving your house without UV radiation protection. Use SPF under your makeup, wear sunglasses, or have a hat handy.
Â
- Eye Serum- Products with Coconut oil, vitamin E, and frankincense are a great way to nourish the skin around your eyes. It will not only help with dark circles but also reduce puffiness. Almara Beauty's Roll-On Eye Serum has all the ingredients mentioned above to ensure that the sensitive skin around our eyes is cared for.
Â
- Eye Massager- We love the rose quartz or jade eye massage roller. They are known for increasing blood circulation and reducing puffy eyes. First, apply Almara Beauty's Roll-On Eye Serum and then gently massage it around the eyes. The serum will moisturize your skin and improve elasticity over time.
Â
- Wash your face- Use a face wash daily that removes all makeup and impurities collected throughout the day. Almara Beauty’s Face Cleanser is gentle enough for the eye area but effective enough to remove even water-proof makeup.
Â
- Allergy Medicine- If your dark circles are because of allergies, see a doctor who can recommend the best antihistamine to help reduce or eliminate them.
Â
It is important to remember that dark circles are harmless, a part of aging, and will happen to everyone. We suggest picking what works best for you and sticking to it for about 4 to 6 weeks to see changes. Remember, you are giving your skin what it needs in the purest and most natural way.
