Is Skincare a Good Gift for the Holidays
December 2, 2022No animal should have to suffer for us. A not-so-fun fact is in the United States (alone), more than 100 million animals are tortured and killed due to
animal experimentation. These testing may include burning skin, poisoning, administering drugs, inhaling toxic substances, and many other methods that leave the animal infected with diseases or, even worse, dead. These animals are kept in small cages and inhumane conditions. Pain-free animal testing does not exist!
All this is unnecessary considering that the results are usually inconclusive and do not work. In other words, even if the ingredient passes the test, it
still may be unsafe for a human.
Animal testing is illegal in many countries like South Korea, Norway, India, Switzerland, New Zealand, and the European Union. It's crazy that despite the efforts to ban animal testing in the United States, many companies still practice it in several industries, including skincare and cosmetics.
In reality, companies that still run tests on animals choose to, and if you stop purchasing their products, it shows your support against animal testing.
If that is not reason enough for you to switch over to cruelty-free products, here are a few more good ones:
1. Cruelty-free products are healthier- Products made of natural and organic ingredients are free of harsh chemicals like parabens, sulfates, and synthetic
dyes. Natural ingredients are less likely to have adverse side effects or cause you harm. So ditch harmful chemicals and give your skin the love it deserves.
2. Support better businesses- Your purchasing decisions send a message to manufacturers, brands, and those who align with your same values. You are not
limiting yourself when you switch to a vegan and cruelty-free product. On the contrary, you are opening yourself up to better alternatives from brands that
make products that can nourish your skin and make it healthier.
3. Save money - On average, organic skincare products are more affordable than products that use chemical ingredients.
4. Promote a green planet - Many cruelty-free brands use plant-based or naturally derived ingredients in their skincare line. Animal testing makes a lot of
waste, whereas vegan brands are more likely to use all of their natural ingredients. Just by switching over to cruelty-free, you save not only your skin but
also the environment. Want to give back? Click here for more information on how you can donate to PETA.
5. You will feel better - It is possible to enjoy beautiful skin and know you made great choices by purchasing cruelty-free products. If a brand is not interested in the health and welfare of an animal, it is not interested in the health and welfare of your skin. You have the power to make a difference and send a message to the market that says you do care! You care about animal safety and what you put on your body.
