Skincare Routine
Â
Every season brings change. Summer is to enjoy the sun and beach, not having to wake up extra early to take your kids to school. Fall brings trick or treating and thanksgiving; Christmas, if you have been good, Santa comes to visit; spring, the beauty of flowers, everything colorful and green again. But what does this mean for our bodies? More specifically, our faces? What can we do to ensure we get all we need to nurture our skin and look radiant?
Our skin reacts to the changes in the air. As the weather changes, so should our skincare routine. Autumn and winter have harsher weather, cold winds, and lower humidity. These changes may draw moisture away from our skin, leading to dead skin cell buildup.
If you haven't already, now is the time to create the perfect skincare routine. A healthy skincare routine must consist of cleansers, moisturizers, and serums. Each product will target different areas, bringing a radiant glow to your complexion. We recommend products that are made of natural ingredients that not only nurture your skin but also are safe to use.
Ways you can protect your skin as the weather changes are:
- Sunscreen:Â In the summer months, we all know this is one of the most critical steps of your skincare routine. Spring, however, gets tricky; you may think that you do not need sunscreen because the sun is not blazing or it is more cloudy than usual. Damaging UV rays penetrate through clouds and harm your skin. Make sure to leave your home with sunscreen.
- Hydration: In colder weather, your skin will most likely experience dryness, irritation, and redness. It's the perfect time to stock up on products packed with hydration—moisture masks, body butter, lip balm, skin moisturizers, etc. Dryness affects your entire body, and you may even experience itchiness. It is essential to add extra hydration to your routine.Â
- Facial Mists:Â In summer months, a moisturizer and a good SPF will do the trick, but when the season changes, a facial mist is an excellent addition to your routine. Look for a facial mist that contains hydrating ingredients such as rose to help balance your skin's pH. The microdroplets of a facial mist penetrate the areas between skin cells, increasing its hydration level.
- Prep your home:Â Fall comes around, and we are all excited to bring out the Halloween and thanksgiving decorations; soon after that, we put up a beautiful tree and hang stockings. That is one of many things we can do to prepare for seasons changing. Adding an excellent humidifier to your decor looks fantastic and infuses moisturizing properties into your home. Ensure the temperature is always low or moderate to avoid excess dryness.Â
- Serum:Â Serums are essential for all seasons but are of more importance in colder months. The most significant benefits of serums are that they penetrate the skin quickly, delivering an intensive dose of ingredients that nurture your skin while fighting the signs of aging. Look for argan oil and rosehip seed oil serums, and apply only a few drops on your face and neck every night.
- Lip balm:Â Throw your favorite lip balm in your purse. You may notice your lips chapped or flaky, and that is because they are not producing their own moisture. Using lip balm daily is a great way to ensure you are ready for those glamorous-red holiday lips!
- Face masks:Â Take some time to pamper yourself. Enjoy hot tea, a warm bath, and an efficient face mask at night or on the weekends. Look for one that gently exfoliates your skin while providing powerful antioxidants like rosehip, bamboo, and cranberry.
It is vital to cater to your skin inside and out. Take time to tweak your skincare routine according to the season change to ensure you take care of yourself!Â
